An Early Morning's Reading of Poetry

morning swirls into the sky on stirred air
whooshing & hurling an agitation of thoughts
communing with currents unusual & fresh
that snatch at fibre or whim     each stretching alive
in the howl & haul to the high stratosphere

I wrap myself in customary black
a peasant of dark imaginings & search
the depths of esoteric verse to unearth its strata
its diverse threads     connect or untie

& hang my own on jostled lines
to string like an elusive kite as I cling
holding taut the course of a bird
soaring to a speck in this turbulent sky
with a flock of words on wing
