Richard Lewis
Old
Dad stopped at the living room doorframe,
leant against its chipped paintwork favouring
the weight of his left leg. I noticed the lines
on his face like it was the colour of the walls
in a room you've been in all your life.
'It comes so quick', he said. 'Before you know it'.
I considered this, then turned back
to my game on the PC, clicking the mouse
like the heavy second hands of a clock; certain
that it would not happen until I was ready. Certain.
