Eliza glides down
the path through the girdled jasmine gate
as a balletic pīwakawaka
leaves for the trees
each hued by the sun
neither cares to define the melding of colour and light
the shade
applies
itself
to the soundproofed trail
that leads
back to where they started
where they stand as mottled mirror
