Suzanne Herschell lives in the harbour side community of Eastbourne across from Wellington in New Zealand. She's an artist, curator, selector and judge of national exhibitions and poet with writing published in Meniscus, Blackmail Press, NZ Poetry Society - A Fine Line, The Ghazal Page, Shot Glass and others.

you left your heart in this morning's ECG
erratic movement & flat notes
swings & down beats & those missed
it was tough listening to the strings out of tune
you lying vulnerable without singlet & socks
wires & patches attached to parts
an electrical substation afloat on a bed
gazing at the white tiled sky
& you don't like fuss
there's enough oxygen to go around
according to the intelligent peg on your finger
the depression clouding your climate lifted
as a computer deciphered the language of your heart
