A pair of shoes stand together – redundant.
Slate-sized raindrops drown out your breath.
Skeletal fingers move in time to your
favourite music and Maria Callas' voice
coaxes your eyes closed.
Your shrunken face is impervious to storms
and birds confused by the seasons
sing at your window.
