Jay Sheets
[a bell rings in the hand of a wooden god]
a bell rings in the hand of a wooden god
an angel plucks silvery threads of a lyre
truth thawing
let lightning flake my skin
inward
i only know what the letter tells me
an ivory prayer melts on the tongue
like a verse burning in red water
that's not a good thing that's not
what a good thing looks like
the offing heart of the wondrous skylark
when i fall into white
