Lisa Alexander Baron
Postscript to Alice
Leave the black-arrowed iron gate
wide-open don't kick
the white rabbit nipping your heels
or fear the leaves scorching
your apron with orange flames
plug through it all ignore
the red globes of the wild cat's
eyes following you from
tree to tree listen for your
sister's voice and never curtsy
to that horse-faced Red Queen
find your own way home
