Larry Schug
Someone Who Carries the Sun
Though only a small hole
has opened in the ice
the reflection
of sun-lit birches
buried beneath snow all winter
floats again in open water
the way a person can emerge
from seasons of darkness
with the help of someone
who carries the sun
in her hands
the light in her eyes a promise
