Jeremy Casabella
Spare Change
Money is a fiction
that says we own
anything other
than our actions,
an auctioneer
in the pulpit babbling
cataclysmic metaphor
to claim promises
on common paper
provide us oily–
soft and spongelike
as tulip blossoms,
their precious
metal: a sparse
decorative intermediary
of reward.
