moon peeks
through a frosty pane —
the wind moans
used Dixie cups
strewn on the counter —
empty days
divorce papers
among the clutter —
broken promises
wedding picture
slides into the trash —
one becomes two

Karen O'Leary is a writer and editor from West Fargo, ND.
