Easter Island Poem

Travel can't take it away
and the Moai have all
lost their heads
hungry dogs everywhere
and waves bluer than blue
sitting by my hotel window
looking at the statues
and night outside
and thinking of the girl
from the Kiri Kiri last night,
so perfect so beautiful
looking at the sky and
thinking of her:
wishing I spoke her language.
