Lonnard Dean Watkins

 

The
fly
also
stood still,
next to the door,
with its many eyes
watching the trees move quickly by.
The train guard moved through the carriage collecting the fares.
Passengers grumbled under their breath,
reluctant to pay.
The fly buzzed
away
from
him
then
got
off at
the next stop,
before the train guard
had a chance to check its ticket.

Lonnard Dean Watkins lives in Wellington, New Zealand where he works as an IT consultant.

Lonnard has had poetry and haiku published in a number of journals including Heron's Nest and Acorn Haiku Journal. He is also an artist and has combined both art and poetry in a series of zen paintings and haiga.
