Nancy Scott

Window Watch

Wake
child
come here
and see the
waxing gibbous moon
how night illuminates the view
offstage the full moon
impatient
now for
its
turn

Five
young
sparrows
dart from crumb
to crumb, my shadow
at the pane startles them to fly
quickly they return
peck their fill
tidy
my
ledge

Wild
gray
rabbit
whiskers twitch
as off you hop from
my Romaine, perhaps you'd prefer
Bibb or Curly Leaf?
Sorry, bub,
cupboard's
gone
bare
