So Small, Black Dress

So
small,
black dress,
just covers
her near-curves, her shame,
and it slips from her shoulders down.

So
small,
black dress,
on the floor,
and she stares at it,
crying as he hurts her again.

So
small,
black dress,
on a peg.
In hospital gown
she watches the rape kit open.

So
small,
black dress,
in a bag.
She holds her bruised arms,
Watching the dumpster rising high.

So
small,
black dress,
always there
where she does not go,
deep in the closet of her mind.
