THE HITCHHIKER'S GUIDE TO FINDING THE GIRL LOST IN HER OWN GALAXY.

My
Thumb
is out.
Standing here
On the edge of time.
Trying to catch a ride to you.
But you are a destination not on any map.

I doubt that anyone who picks me up will know you, or know which way that you wandered.

Hitchhiking through space is easier than finding you,
But I'll keep looking, thumb extended,
Knowing at the least
I’m further
From where
I've
been.

HOW TO CHEER YOUR ROBOT, WHOSE BRAIN IS THE SIZE OF A PLANET.

"Your
Brain
Is too
Galactic."
I said to Robot.
"Yes," he sighed. "I know this is true.
Superiority can be very depressing."
When you have a robot whose brain is as large as a small planet, it is a challenge.
So I set out to cure my Robot of his depression, purchasing at a pawn shop a small Yorkshire Terrier made of wires and metal,

I set the mechanical puppy down, and it barked after him, calculatingly. "Oh my," said Robot. "Such a clever canine construct."
"What each planet needs, my Robot, is a satellite." Robot nodded watching the pup
As it circled him round and round, and he only paused
In this orbital performance,
To give puppy treats,
Now and then
Oiling
Its
Tail.

WHAT COULD THE MAN IN CHARGE OF EVERYTHING POSSIBLY WANT?

"Sir!
Wait!
Please, stop!
Your schedule!
You have appointments!
He was right. But I didn't stop.
Within seven minutes I had cleared the atmosphere.
I put the ship into second gear, quickly cruising past the fourteen outer planets.
Oh, the ship was mine. Being the President of the Galaxy, you never needed to steal a space ship, you simply acquisitioned one.
But even as I shifted into Stellar Curve Drive, I knew I was stealing something.
I was stealing time from my duties, and from the people.
I stepped hard on the gas, racing
for Andromeda.
Time stolen
to spend
with
you.

HEART OF GOLD

They
speak
of her.
"Heart of Gold"
They say, and I nod.
She gave of herself constantly,
Though it was not easy. Beaten by her first husband,
She lost herself in work and grandkids, then finally found a man that was good to her.

Then he died suddenly. Then they said she had cancer. She gave until the very end.
Gold is such a heavy metal. It can weigh you down.
But sometimes the heart of gold shines
Even so, through it all.
My sister.
My heart
of
Gold.
