When Gentlemen can see —
But Microscopes are prudent
In an Emergency. — Emily Dickinson, 1860 (#185)

whelk shells,
pinecone scales,
and sunflower seeds
tracing Fibonacci spirals,
suggesting that Creation's much more Byzantine than
just four nucleotides encoding triplet patterns within each species' DNA.
Yet, though mathematics underscores our music, as well as science, is it likely we might someday
sing a species into existence?
