Hope

One
small
eyelash
on a cheek.
Dandelion seeds
floating on the new spring breezes.
Candles on a cake blown out in the space of a breath.
The first speck of starlight peeking out from behind the dark curtain of heaven's vast stage.
All proof of our human need to place our lasting faith
in a power that is greater
than our mortal selves.
One small hope
for us
to
hold.
